A great effort by Alex Gonzalez hoisted the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (3-0) to a 10-3 win over the Orleans Firebirds (2-1) on Monday at Red Wilson Field.

Gonzalez held the Orleans Firebirds scoreless for 6 2/3 innings. Gonzalez allowed two hits, two walks and struck out eight.

The offense exploded for the the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the sixth. In the inning the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox scored eight runs.

Sam Travis reached base four times in the game for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
