The Mudville (11-7) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Newport (7-11), and the Mudville lost 6-4 to the Newport after falling behind by five runs in the fifth inning.
The Mudville scored three runs in the fifth on a two-run home run by Matt Borges and an RBI triple by Josh Sokol. Unfortunately, the Mudville weren't able to take the lead back.
The Newport were led by Dante Blancarte's hitting. Blancarte went 3-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fourth innings.
Borges racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Mudville. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.
Matt Rogers improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Newport. He allowed three runs over three innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered six hits.
Tommy Darby ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
