It took 10 innings, but the River City Rascals (34-33) managed to put away the Washington Wild Things (26-40) 5-4 on Sunday at Consol Energy Park.
With the score tied at four, Kyle Jones came to the plate and tripled, bringing home Gerardo Avila.
The River City Rascals were led by Avila's hitting. Avila went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the eighth inning and singled in the tenth inning.
Dustin Umberger recorded his fifth win of the year for the River City Rascals. Umberger struck out three, walked one and gave up one hit.
Nathan Striz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
