The Baltimore Redbirds (3-0) and the Bethesda Big Train (3-2) each put runners in scoring position on Tuesday, but the Baltimore Redbirds capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-3 win at Calvert Hall HS.

The Baltimore Redbirds held off the Bethesda Big Train, as the Bethesda Big Train were unable to overcome a two-run third inning deficit.

The Bethesda Big Train scored one run in the fifth on a solo home run by Michael Bass. Despite their efforts, the Bethesda Big Train couldn't get over the hump.

Mark Zagunis racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Baltimore Redbirds. He homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Trevor Kelley baffled the Bethesda Big Train, striking out six batters. The Baltimore Redbirds' pitcher gave up just three hits over 3 1/3 shutout innings.

Andy Flett recorded his first win of the year for the Baltimore Redbirds. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Flett struck out two, walked two and gave up six hits.

Jon Carlson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
