The Baltimore Redbirds (3-0) built an early lead against the Vienna River Dogs (2-2), scoring four runs in the first inning, en route to a 9-4 win on Monday at Calvert Hall HS.
Kyle Neverman had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and second innings and singled in the eighth inning.
Chris Ellis's 10 strikeouts were enough to push the Baltimore Redbirds past the Vienna River Dogs. Ellis allowed one earned run on five hits and four walks over seven innings.
Bret Williams reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the third inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Josh Herzenberg was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked one and struck out none.
