The Newton Rebels (1-2) built an early edge on Saturday, but the Hays Larks (2-1) roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The Hays Larks took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Elvin Rodriguez.

It was a good day at the plate for the Hays Larks' Aaron Cornell. Cornell went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Shawn Lewick picked up the win for the Hays Larks. Lewick pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and three walks while striking out two.

Rodge Macy reached base three times in the game for the Newton Rebels. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the first inning.

Taylor Berthusen was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
