The Barrie Baycats take out the Toronto Maple Leafs with help from DeGrace, 6-3

Kyle DeGrace went 5-5 at the plate, helping the Barrie Baycats (1-0) to a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs (0-1) on Saturday at Schmidt and Shaw Stadium.

He doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the first, third, and sixth innings, and homered in the eighth inning.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had no answer for Jamie Arneson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Toronto Maple Leafs managed just one hit off of the the Barrie Baycats' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 1 2/3 innings of work.

Jordan Castaldo racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Nick Fogarty got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Fogarty struck out two, walked five and gave up nine hits.

Marek Deska (0-1) took the loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
