The Harwich Mariners make the most of 8 hits in 6-5 victory over the Wareham Gatemen

The Harwich Mariners (23-14) and the Wareham Gatemen (17-20) each put runners in scoring position on Wednesday, but the Harwich Mariners capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 6-5 win at Whitehouse Field.

The Harwich Mariners staved off the Wareham Gatemen as the Wareham Gatemen were unable to match the Harwich Mariners down the stretch.

The Wareham Gatemen scored on an RBI single by Tyler Ross and a groundout by Mott Hyde in the sixth inning, an RBI home run by Tyler McFarland in the eighth inning, and an RBI single by Ryan Sullivan and in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Wareham Gatemen couldn't get over the hump.

Eric Jagielo had a hot bat for the Harwich Mariners. Jagielo went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the third inning.

David Whitehead improved to 5-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Harwich Mariners. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered seven hits.

Frederick Shepard couldn't get it done on the bump for the Wareham Gatemen, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out seven.
