The Road Warriors make the most of 7 hits in 6-5 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers

The Road Warriors (6-17) and the Schaumburg Boomers (47-36) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Road Warriors that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-5 win at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

The Road Warriors held off the Schaumburg Boomers, as the Schaumburg Boomers were unable to overcome a four-run second inning deficit.

The Schaumburg Boomers scored on an RBI double by Steve McQuail in the third inning, a sacrifice fly by Chase Fontaine in the fifth inning, a sacrifice fly by Frank Pfister in the sixth inning, and a solo home run by McQuail and an error in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Schaumburg Boomers couldn't finish the comeback.

Tanner Leighton put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Road Warriors. He doubled in the first and second innings.

Tyler Vaske improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Road Warriors. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered nine hits.

Cody Griebling was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
