Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Olean (21-15) outscored the Hornell (23-12) 9-8 in eight innings.
The two teams combined for 24 hits in the game.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with five lead changes.
The Olean took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Cody Stevenson scored Tyler Stanford and gave the Olean the lead for good.
Seth Heck was solid at the plate for the Olean. Heck went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Cody Petre improved to 1-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Olean. Petre struck out one, walked two and gave up two hits.
Erik Eck ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
