An outstanding effort by Celson Polanco spurred the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (28-19) to a 5-0 win in seven innings over the McAllen Thunder (16-32) on Friday at Harlingen Field.
Polanco pitched lights out for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. The McAllen Thunder managed just one hit off of the the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his seven innings of work.
Leivi Ventura racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. He singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Frank James was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
