Carlos Mendez clubbed two home runs, sparking the Southern Illinois Miners (20-14) to a 6-1 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (16-18) on Saturday at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL.

The Gateway Grizzlies' lineup had no answer for Shawn Gilblair. Gilblair gave up just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out four during his eight innings of work.

Alex Kaminsky couldn't get it done on the hill for the Gateway Grizzlies, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out five.

The Southern Illinois Miners were sparked by Ken Gregory and Will Block, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
