The Schaumburg Boomers announced the signing of first baseman and utility outfielder Ken Kirshner to his first professional contract on August 12, 2015, prior to that afternoon's game against the Windy City ThunderBolts.


Kirshner, 23, joins the Boomers after a successful collegiate career which culminated in 2014 with an East Coast Conference championship as a member of St. Thomas Aquinas College and a berth into the regionals of the 2014 College World Series. Playing first base and hitting second in the championship game, Kirshner went 3-for-6 and scored three times in a 12-4 victory game one victory for the Spartans. 


Prior to his career at St. Thomas, Kirshner played baseball at DI Siena University where he accumulated 39 career hits and 27 RBIs over two seasons with the Saints.
