2021 is Zac Taylor's third professional season and first with the ThunderBolts. He signed as a free agent on May 12, 2021. He was drafted by MLB teams twice: in the 36th round by the Minnesota Twins in 2018 and in the 25th round by the Chicago Cubs in 2019. He played across four levels of the Cubs organization in '19, making it as far as high-A Myrtle Beach. Overall, he hit .254 with five home runs, 27 RBIs and 12 stolen bases over 50 games. In 2020, he played 23 games in Joliet's City of Champions Cup and hit .185.

Taylor played two years collegiately at the University of Illinois and hit ten home runs both years. As a senior, he was named First Team All-Big Ten, finishing with a .321 batting average and .612 slugging percentage. He stole 23 bases. He also played for two years at the University of Houston. As a Cougar, Zac hit .257 overall with a .359 on-base percentage and 33 steals. He attended Downers Grove South High School in Downers Grove, Illinois.
