Tyler returns to Traverse City after an injury-shortened 2016 in which he played in just 12 games. He started his professional career with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association in 2014, where he hit .229. He then moved on to Fargo-Moorhead in 2015 where he hit .241. Undrafted out of the University of St. Thomas, he finished 4th in batting average in all of NCAA Division 3, hitting .470 as a senior. He was also eighth in slugging percentage at .803.
