Giarraputo's single propels the New Jersey past the St Paul, 3-2

Story by Narrative Science.

Three first-inning runs helped the New Jersey to a 3-2 win over the St Paul (10-8) at Yogi Berra Stadium on Tuesday.

The New Jersey would not relinquish the lead as the St Paul were unable to weather a two-run first inning deficit.

The St Paul scored one run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Jim Rapoport. Still, the St Paul couldn't catch the New Jersey.

Steve Fox kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight the St Paul batters. Fox allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk over five innings.

Chris Odegaard ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
