The Washington Wild Things (33-48) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the Windy City ThunderBolts (48-33) on Friday.

An RBI single by Chris Wade gave the Windy City ThunderBolts the lead in the fifth inning.

Blayne Weller's 10 strikeouts were enough to push the Windy City ThunderBolts past the Washington Wild Things. Weller allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings.

A bright spot for the Washington Wild Things in the defeat was Shawn Smith, who allowed only three runs while striking out eight.

Smith couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss.
