The Illinois Lincolns outlast the Rockford Foresters in extras, 4-3

The Illinois Lincolns (17-14) needed 11 innings on Wednesday to take down the Rockford Foresters (8-28) 4-3 at Wayne King Field.

With the score tied at three, Chris Hipchen came to the plate and doubled, bringing home Ashton Perritt.

Hipchen helped the Illinois Lincolns take the lead for good in the eleventh inning.

Hipchen led the Illinois Lincolns' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the eleventh inning.

Conor Philbin paced the Illinois Lincolns at the plate. Philbin went 3-6 and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and ninth innings.

The Rockford Foresters' lineup had no answer for Sam Welvaert. Welvaert held the Rockford Foresters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Andrew Carr (0-2) took the loss for the Rockford Foresters. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
