The McAllen Thunder (29-50) and the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (45-33) both threatened with rallies, but it was the McAllen Thunder that eventually took advantage of them in a 6-5 win at Harlingen Field.

The McAllen Thunder would not relinquish the lead as the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings were unable to weather a four-run second inning deficit.

The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings scored on a single by Ruddy Yan, a double by Roberto Rodriguez, a double by Leivi Ventura, a passed ball, and a single by Welinson Baez in the third inning, an RBI single by Romulo Ruiz in the seventh inning, and a fielder's choice in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings couldn't finish the comeback.

Craig Hertler racked up two RBIs on three hits for the McAllen Thunder. He singled in the second, third, and eighth innings.

Brian Murphy improved to 5-6 on the year by picking up the win for the McAllen Thunder. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six, walked none and surrendered eight hits.

Erinzon Bautista (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked five, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
