The McAllen Thunder (12-22) beat the Fort Worth Cats (17-16) 2-1 on Thursday at LaGrave Field behind Roberto Rodriguez, who went 2-3.

He singled in the second and fourth innings.

Brian Murphy picked up the win for the McAllen Thunder. Murphy allowed one earned run, eight hits and no walks while striking out three over 7 2/3 innings of work.

RJ Harris went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Fort Worth Cats. He singled in the third, sixth, and eighth innings.

The McAllen Thunder had no answer for Kane Holbrooks, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Holbrooks held the McAllen Thunder hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Tim Haines (2-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
