Sean Becker struck out nine batters to lift the Thunder Bay Border Cats (32-36) to an 8-1 win over the Duluth Huskies (37-31) at Subway Field.
Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Thunder Bay Border Cats to easily put away the Duluth Huskies. An RBI single by Cory Kay during the first inning and a groundout by Andrew Ayers, an RBI single by Brett Kay, and a wild pitch in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
Kay got on base three times in the game for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
Josh Mooney (2-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out two.
