Cory Kay brought home the go-ahead run to give the Thunder Bay Border Cats (7-8) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Thunder Bay Border Cats hung on to beat the St. Cloud Rox (5-9) 4-3 on Tuesday.
Scott Donley singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on an error. Finally, Kay came to the plate with the score tied at three, and singled, bringing home Donley.Kay racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Blake Fonfara pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out four.
Chad Richie recorded his first win of the year for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Will Flor ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
