Ramon Valdez came off the bench and never even had to swing his bat as Valdez reached on a passed ball in the one to lead the Alberta (4-1) to a 12-0 win over the Prince Edward Island (1-4) on Thursday at Midget Municipal Stadium.

The Alberta blew out the Prince Edward Island thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. The Alberta scored three runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Layne Currie and an RBI single by Eduardo Sanchez.

Currie racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Alberta.

Kurtis Taylor got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Taylor struck out three, walked two and gave up no hits.

Jeremy Koughan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
