Thursday was a great day for Brandon MacKinnon, as MacKinnon struck out seven batters to carry the Nova Scotia (1-0) to a 3-1 victory over the Ontario two (0-1) at Junior Stade in eight innings.
Adam Hendrie helped the Nova Scotia take the lead for good in the eighth inning. With the score tied at one in the eighth inning, Hendrie came to the plate and grounded out, scoring Luke Conrad.
Codey Shrider racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Nova Scotia. He doubled in the eighth inning.
A bright spot for the Ontario two in the defeat was Eric Carducci, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.
