A four-run explosion in the sixth inning carried the Alaska Goldpanners (5-1) to a 7-1 win in seven innings over the Midnight Suns (0-1) at Growden Memorial Park on Saturday.
Blake Miller racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.
Carl Robinson shut down the Midnight Suns while he was on the mound. Robinson held the Midnight Suns hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
Patrick Hennessey improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Alaska Goldpanners. Hennessey struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits.
Christoph Falk took the loss for the Midnight Suns. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked two and struck out two.
