The Chugiak Chinooks (16-22) beat the Alaska Goldpanners (18-20) 10-5 in seven innings on Saturday at Loretta French Field behind Drew Turbin, who knocked in four runs.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.The Alaska Goldpanners couldn't get anything going as long as Tommy Kister was pitching. Kister held the Alaska Goldpanners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
Caleb Dirks improved to 2-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Chugiak Chinooks. He allowed four runs over five innings. Dirks struck out three, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Jack Vander Linden was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.
