Matsu Miners vs Anchorage Bucs: 7-9

The Anchorage Bucs survive the Matsu Miners rally, escape with 9-7 victory

The Matsu Miners (14-22) were unable to fight back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Anchorage Bucs (19-17), and the Matsu Miners lost 9-7 to the Anchorage Bucs after falling behind by nine runs in the third inning.

The Matsu Miners scored on an error and a sacrifice fly by Bill Cullen in the fifth inning, a two-run triple by Tino Lipson and a sacrifice fly by Bobby Boyd in the sixth inning, and an RBI single by Ian Miller and an RBI single by Clint Freeman in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Matsu Miners couldn't finish the comeback.

Chase Compton paced the Anchorage Bucs at the plate. Compton went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, second, and sixth innings.

Tanner Kichler put together a nice outing. Kichler gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked six and struck out eight during his five innings of work.

Lipson got on base four times in the game for the Matsu Miners. He scored three runs and had two RBIs.

Tanner Anderson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out one.
