The Matsu Miners (8-15) didn't stand a chance on Sunday, as the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (12-7) captured a blowout 8-1 win at Mulcahy Field.
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots scored four runs in the sixth on a single by Luke Bublitz, a solo home run by Kevin Swick, a single by Axel Johnson, a double by Jordan Luplow, a groundout by Matt Daugherty, and a double by Jeff Kremer.
It was a good day at the plate for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots' Tyler Spoon. Spoon went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the first inning.
The Matsu Miners couldn't get anything going as long as Kyle Freeland was on the mound. The Matsu Miners managed just three hits off of Freeland, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his five innings of work.
Bobby Boyd had a hot bat for the Matsu Miners. Boyd went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the eighth inning and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.
Jake Watts (0-3) took the loss for the Matsu Miners. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed one run.
