The Newark Bears (33-62) trailed by seven in the fifth, but the Newark Bears recovered thanks to a key single in the sixth inning from Ryde Rodriguez to pull out an 11-9 win over the New Jersey Jackals (56-39) at Yogi Berra Stadium on Tuesday.
With the Newark Bears trailing by one, Rodriguez came to the plate and singled, bringing home DAngelo Jimenez.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 20 total runs and 29 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Jimenez racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Newark Bears. He singled in the first, third, sixth, and eighth innings.
Caleb Cuevas put together a nice outing. The New Jersey Jackals managed just one hit off of Cuevas, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 1 2/3 innings of work.
Anthony Pluta got the win, running his season record to 4-5. Pluta struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits.
Jacob Wiley (0-1) took the loss for the New Jersey Jackals. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
