Jeff Duda held the Newark Bears (30-58) scoreless for six innings to boost the Quebec Capitales (56-31) to a 5-2 victory.
Duda allowed six hits, one walk and struck out seven.
Sebastien Boucher reached base three times. He singled in the first and fifth innings.
Dan Coury had a hot bat for the Newark Bears. Coury went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Zachary Goyer (1-1) took the loss for the Newark Bears. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
