The Worcester get on top of the Quebec early but can't hang on in 3-2 loss

The Worcester (11-22) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against the Quebec (22-11) on Thursday at Le Stade Municipal.

While the Worcester led until the eighth inning, the Quebec worked their way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Steve Brown.

Rene Leveret was hot from the plate for the Quebec. Leveret went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Karl Gelinas baffled the Worcester, striking out seven batters. Gelinas allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings.

Zach Zuercher was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Quebec batters and allowing three runs.

Guillaume Duguay recorded his first win of the year for the Quebec. Duguay struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.

Zuercher ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year.
