A superb effort by Omar Javier hoisted the Newark Bears to a 2-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (38-54) on Saturday at Bears_Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

Javier kept the Lincoln Saltdogs off the board during his seven innings of work. Javier struck out eight and allowed one walk and three hits.

The Newark Bears held off the Lincoln Saltdogs, as the Lincoln Saltdogs were unable to overcome a two-run second inning deficit.

The Lincoln Saltdogs scored one run in the eighth on an RBI single by David Espinosa. Still, the Lincoln Saltdogs couldn't catch the Newark Bears.

Justin R. Edwards (4-8) took the loss for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
