Early lead not enough for the Gary SouthShore RailCats, drop 3-2 decision to the Lincoln Saltdogs

The Gary SouthShore RailCats (41-43) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the Lincoln Saltdogs (34-49) on Sunday.

The Lincoln Saltdogs took the lead in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by AJ Miller.

Chris McMurray racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He homered in the fifth inning.

Wade Mackey baffled the Gary SouthShore RailCats, striking out six batters. Mackey allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks over six innings.

Despite the loss, the Gary SouthShore RailCats' Morgan Coombs dominated the Lincoln Saltdogs' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.

Pete Parise got the win, running his season record to 6-5. Parise struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Marshall Schuler (1-2) took the loss for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
