The Gary SouthShore RailCats (33-40) and the St Paul Saints (38-34) traded the lead five times on Friday, but the Gary SouthShore RailCats ended up on top with an 8-3 win over the St Paul Saints.
The Gary SouthShore RailCats were led by Mike Massaro's hitting. Massaro went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and eighth innings.
Will Krout picked up the win for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Krout pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, eight hits and no walks while striking out five.
Jim Rapoport had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the eighth inning and doubled in the first and ninth innings.
Kyle Ruwe couldn't get it done on the bump for the St Paul Saints, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked two and struck out one.
