The Winnipeg Goldeyes (22-15) and the Sioux City Explorers (18-21) each put runners in scoring position on Monday, but the Winnipeg Goldeyes capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 3-2 win at Shaw Park.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes held off the Sioux City Explorers, as the Sioux City Explorers were unable to overcome a three-run fourth inning deficit.

The Sioux City Explorers scored on an RBI double by Peter Barrows in the sixth inning and an RBI single by Brandon Newton in the eighth inning. Still, the Sioux City Explorers couldn't draw even.

Josh Mazzola was hot from the plate for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Mazzola went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the second and fourth innings.

Matthew Rusch's 10 strikeouts helped the Winnipeg Goldeyes to the victory. Rusch allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over seven innings.

Alain Quijano couldn't get it done on the hill for the Sioux City Explorers, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
