The Alameda Merchants (17-14) and the San Francisco Seagulls (21-19) volleyed the lead six times on Thursday, but the Alameda Merchants came out on top for a 8-4 win on Thursday at College of Alameda.

The Alameda Merchants took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. Scored Chaz Meadows and gave the Alameda Merchants the lead for good.

Brandon Alexander racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Alameda Merchants. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

The San Francisco Seagulls' Roger Fonseca was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the seventh inning and doubled in the first and ninth innings.

Mike Hepple got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Hepple struck out two, walked none and gave up three hits.

Julian Garcia was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out four.
