A walk-off solo blast from Bianca Mejia brought home the winning run for the Carolina Diamonds (9-13) in a 3-2 victory over the Akron Racers (9-14) in eight innings at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on Sunday.
Mejia was solid at the plate for the Carolina Diamonds. Mejia went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the eighth inning.
Katie Burkhart picked up the win for the Carolina Diamonds. Burkhart allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out five over eight innings of work.
Erin Arevalo couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Akron Racers, taking a loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked three, struck out seven, and allowed three runs.
