Kelley Montalvo drove in the winning run to give the Akron Racers (11-17) the lead in the fifth inning, as the Akron Racers hung on to beat the Carolina Diamonds (12-15) 9-6 on Saturday.

Kaylyn Castillo to start the fifth. She then went from second to third on an error. Finally, Montalvo came to the plate with the score tied at five in the fifth inning, and, plating Castillo.

It was a good day at the plate for the Carolina Diamonds' Natalie Villarreal. Villarreal went 3-4 and scored one run. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Hillary Bach got her fourth win for the Akron Racers despite allowing six runs over seven innings. Bach struck out five, walked one and gave up 11 hits.

Sara Plourde (1-2) took the loss for the Carolina Diamonds. She lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked three, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
