Jeff Fiorentino brought home the go-ahead run to give the York Revolution (63-55) the lead in the eighth inning, as the York Revolution hung on to beat the Long Island Ducks (54-63) 5-2 on Saturday.
Scott Grimes to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a single by Brandon Haveman. Finally, Fiorentino came to the plate with the score tied at two in the eighth inning, and singled, plating Grimes.Corey Thurman allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks while striking out three over 5 2/3 innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Long Island Ducks' Bob Zimmermann dominated the York Revolution's batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.
R.J. Rodriguez got the win, running his season record to 1-3. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Eric Niesen couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Long Island Ducks, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
