The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (50-56) couldn't capitalize on a great day from Matthew Vasquez on Sunday, losing 1-0 to the Sugar Land Skeeters (47-60) in 11 innings at Regency Furniture Stadium.
Vasquez kept the Sugar Land Skeeters off the board during his eight innings of work. Vasquez struck out three and allowed no walks and four hits.
Bubba Bell pushed the Sugar Land Skeeters ahead, in the eleventh inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Ofilio Castro singled to start the eleventh. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Iggy Suarez. Finally, Bell came to the plate with the game scoreless in the eleventh inning and singled, bringing home Castro.
Gary Majewski got the win, running his season record to 5-2. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Charlie Manning ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
