Jason Webb went 2-2, sparking the Wellsville (2-3) to a 6-1 victory over the Hornell (3-1) on Friday at Wellsville Central.
He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.Cameron Longfels pitched lights out for the Wellsville. The Hornell managed just two hits off of Longfels, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out three during his six innings of work.
Matt Calhoun put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Hornell. He homered in the fourth inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
The Wellsville had no answer for Philip Hathcock, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Wellsville managed just two hits off of Hathcock, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Kevin Johnson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
