An awesome effort by Shane Beauchemin led the Pittsfield Suns (5-2) to a 6-0 win over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (2-5) on Thursday at Doyle Field.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs couldn't get anything going so long as Beauchemin was on the hill. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs managed just one hit off of the the Pittsfield Suns' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out eight during his seven innings of work.
The Pittsfield Suns blew out the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. The Pittsfield Suns scored three runs in the first on a two-run home run by Ryan Deitrich and a solo home run by Brendan Slattery.
Jeff Andersen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.
The Pittsfield Suns were sparked by Jimmy Ricoy and Deitrich, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
