Three first-inning runs helped the Regina Red Sox (16-3) to a 5-3 win over the Melville Millionaires (12-10) at Currie Field on Wednesday.

The Regina Red Sox staved off the Melville Millionaires as the Melville Millionaires were unable to match the Regina Red Sox down the stretch.

The Melville Millionaires scored two runs in the ninth on two singles. Still, the Melville Millionaires couldn't draw even.

Cody Maas had a hot bat for the Regina Red Sox. Maas went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Daniel Jones improved to 5-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Regina Red Sox. He allowed one run over six innings. Jones struck out five, walked two and gave up 10 hits.

Jon Mark Abbey was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
