The Newport Gulls (26-9) pounded the Laconia Muskrats (15-23) on Wednesday 10-3 at Cardines Field.

The Newport Gulls scored four runs in the fourth on a groundout by Charlie White, a double by Jeff Melillo, a single by Kasey Coffman, a groundout by Austin Slater, and a single by Joel McKeithan.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.

The Newport Gulls took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the victory. A groundout by White scored John Norwood and Conor Keniry and gave the Newport Gulls the lead for good.

Coffman racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Newport Gulls.

The Laconia Muskrats couldn't get anything going as long as Brett Graves was pitching. The Laconia Muskrats managed just one hit off of Graves, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Daniel Wright improved to 6-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Newport Gulls. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered eight hits.

Nevin Wilson was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
