Chris Tavares drove in the go-ahead run to give the Terre Haute Rex (32-19) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Terre Haute Rex hung on to beat the Dubois County Bombers (29-22) 5-3 on Friday.

After Tyler Brake singled, Tavares came to the plate with the score tied at two in the seventh inning, and singled, plating Brake.

Nick Johnson went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Terre Haute Rex. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

The Dubois County Bombers' lineup had no answer for Kyle Zimmerman. The Dubois County Bombers managed just two hits off of Zimmerman, who allowed three earned runs, walked four and struck out seven during his six innings of work.

Jeff Zahn led the Dubois County Bombers' offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He tripled in the eighth inning.

Alex Sachs recorded his first win of the year for the Terre Haute Rex. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Pichi Torres couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Dubois County Bombers, taking a loss. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
