Offenses dominate as the Lorain County Ironmen outscore the Slippery Rock Sliders 10-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Lorain County Ironmen (14-38) outscored the Slippery Rock Sliders (20-33) 10-8.

The teams totaled 25 hits in the game.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.

The Lorain County Ironmen took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Tyler Bires scored Cody Koch and gave the Lorain County Ironmen the lead for good.

The Lorain County Ironmen held off the Slippery Rock Sliders, as the Slippery Rock Sliders were unable to overcome a five-run sixth inning deficit.

The Slippery Rock Sliders scored on an RBI single by Dan Hurlimann and a sacrifice fly by Derek Peake in the seventh inning and an RBI single by Peake and an RBI single by Steve Sulcoski in the ninth inning. Still, the Slippery Rock Sliders couldn't draw even.

Michael Burke went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Lorain County Ironmen. He singled in the first and third innings.

Vince Frate got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed four runs over five innings. Frate struck out one, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Jim Miller was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.
