The Orleans Firebirds (12-3) jumped out to an early lead on the Brewster Whitecaps (5-10) and captured a 12-0 victory on Sunday at Stony Brook.
The game was decided quickly as the Orleans Firebirds exerted their will early with five runs in the first three innings.
A home run by Kevin Brown during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Orleans Firebirds.Brown racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Orleans Firebirds.
The Brewster Whitecaps had no answer for Jarrett Arakawa, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Arakawa gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his five innings of work.
Brady Kirkpatrick was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out three.
