The Cotuit Kettleers (5-5) used a four-run explosion in the ninth inning to get past the Chatham Anglers (6-3) 11-5 on Sunday at Veterans Field.
Tony Kemp reached base four times. He scored four runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth inning.
The Chatham Anglers couldn't get anything going as long as Dan Slania was on the mound. Slania held the Chatham Anglers hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Adam Engel was hot from the plate for the Chatham Anglers. Engel went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the third and fourth innings.
Ryan Connolly improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Cotuit Kettleers. He allowed two runs over 2 2/3 innings. Connolly struck out two, walked one and gave up three hits.
Eric Stevens ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
