The River City Rascals (31-31) built an early lead against the Gateway Grizzlies (36-27), scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 8-5 win on Friday at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.

Jeremy Synan had two extra-base hits for the River City Rascals. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Tony Marsala improved to 4-4 on the year by picking up the win for the River City Rascals. He allowed three runs over five innings. Marsala struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits.

Brett Zawacki couldn't get it done on the hill for the Gateway Grizzlies, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked one and struck out one.

Curran Redal, Ben Hewett and Synan helped lead the River City Rascals. They combined for six hits and six RBIs.
