Andrew Cohn brought home the go-ahead run to give the Normal CornBelters (26-52) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Normal CornBelters hung on to beat the River City Rascals (36-42) 4-2 on Sunday.
Ernie Banks Jr. to start the eighth. He then went from first to third on a double by Randy Wells. Finally, Cohn came to the plate with the score tied at two, and hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Banks Jr.Patrick McKenna was hot from the plate for the Normal CornBelters. McKenna went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.
Tyler Lavigne struck out eight hitters en route to the the Normal CornBelters win. Lavigne allowed one earned run on five hits and three walks over eight innings.
Justin Gill couldn't get it done on the mound for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
